Work At Home
Work At Home - Your Customers Want to Know, "What's in it For Me?"
Often times I come across people who work at home, and operate a fairly valuable online business, but still have difficulty converting sales. The number one reason why people have difficulty converting sales is because they focus on their business, products or services, and not on the needs of the potential customer. Customers want to no up front, "What's in it for me?" This is the reason customers buy, but instead of focusing on their customers, some online businesses unknowingly commit the sin of advertising about themselves. This is mostly due to many online business owners not being able to tell the difference.
Does this sound like you? If so, you are not alone. When it comes to work at home business advertising, you are definitely not the only one committing this "sin". Your competitors are also going the same route. This is why you would fail to achieve the results you are looking for when you mimic your competition's advertisements.
The good news is, if you can turn this around for your business, it will make your online business advertising infinitely more effective. By changing your message and delivery to your potential customers, you will be able to "steal" your competition's clients away! Even using subtle, yet effective changes in your advertising, your competition will not even know what is happening to cause their customers to go after your business.
Telling your customers what is in it for them is the key to work at home business advertising. Tell them why they should turn towards your businesses product or service as opposed to any other business advertising. Whether a home business is the "best" or the "fastest", it only seems like bragging on an advertisement, instead of answering the client's real questions. "What's in it for me?"
To be blunt, customers do not want to hear you or your business brag. They do not want to know why you think you are so great. Remember, to explicitly inform your potential customers what is in it for them if they make the decision to do business with your company.

Work At Home - Demystifying The Payment Gateway
When starting any work at home business, you require some sort of point of sale process. The differs from a brick and mortar store front, where you may just need a cash register and credit card machine. However, when you work at home with an online stores, you have the need for something a little different. Here, you need a payment gateway to function at your best.
This gateway provides the connection from the little "submit order" button on your website to your merchant account. It allows your business, big or small to accept credit cards and online checks as payment types. It does this quickly and hopefully affordable.
One helpful feature that the payment gateway offers is secure transactions. In today's identity theft abundant world, this is on everyone's mind. A good payment gateway will encrypt the credit card number and other personal information on it's way to the payment server. After the payment server accepts or declines the transaction, it will send back to the website an authorization number for the approval or a declined message if rejected. This entire communication takes about 2-3 seconds. A merchant will then send all of his approved transactions to his merchant account and payment usually arrives in 2-3 days at the most.
So where do I, as a new business owner, get this magical payment gateway? That's the good news, many companies offer this software bundle. It comes with the shopping cart program that allows customers to pick and choose what they want to buy 24 hours a day, and pay for it safely and securely with their credit cards. If you're going to have an online store, it's imperative that you have this software program as a part of your website.
Work At Home - Are Your Goals Realistic or a Daydream?
I always tell people who work at home that vision without action is a daydream, but action without vision is a nightmare. Such an easy, but true, quote and will worth exploring as it will bring you many answers in your business. Let us break this down for a second. I am sure that most of you have some sort of plan for your home business. You plan to earn more money, you intend to pay off your bills, you plan to buy a new house, you intend to spend more time with your family, and you plan to do this by working at home.
A past common notion in the work at home industry was that if you built your online business, they customers would come. The only problem is, do you actually know how to complete your plans? Not just follow a system, but exactly what you will need to do to get to where you would like to be. This could seem obvious, but look slightly deeper at it, and you may see that your business plans are nothing more than a daydream.
For instance, if your goal is to pay off your $20,000 debt in exactly one year, precisely what will that take? You not only need to realize that you have $20,000 in debt to pay down, but precisely what you will need to do to repay the debt. Thus, if you earn a thirty-seven dollar commission for each sale that you convert, you will need 541 sales to pay down that debt.
Break it down even further. You will need 10.4 sales per week and 1.5 sales per day to earn $20,000 in one year. This, of course, does not account for the fact that you will also need to pay taxes. Just think about what you need to do to earn $100K in a year. You are now looking at 52 sales per week, and 7.4 sales per day.
