Make Money Online By Emulating Highly Successful Traits

How can we take the success of others in different fields, and use it a a model of success to make money online? I am sure that at one point or another all of us have read about individuals in the world who have worked extremely hard for brief moments of success. For instance, the song "Whoomp! There It Is" was such a huge success back in 1993 that I heard the stupid lyrics from that stupid song come out of my dad's mouth. Fortunately, they were a one hit wonder.

However, it is not these one hit wonders that I am talking about as a model of success to make money online. I am focused on people who tend to do well in many areas of life, over a sustained period of time. To this end, I think of individuals such as Curtis Jackson (a.k.a. 50 Cent), who was a drug dealing, became a best selling rapper, started his own record label, invested in 10% ownership Glacier who owned Vitamin water, and which was sold to Coca Cola, netting 50 Cent $400 million. Other individuals who I have studied are Paul Newman, Sir Richard Branson, Prince, Bill Cosby, Warren Buffet and Bill Gates.

Why do good things tend to happen to the same people in different aspects of their lives? In my observations, I have noticed that these individuals, as diverse as they are, share the following traits:

1. They work very hard. Of course, it is well documented that they play hard too. However, make no mistake about it. They get up early, rarely complain, and expect performance from others. Most importantly, they expect extraordinary performance from themselves. Repeated, high-level success starts with a recognition that hard work pays off. This is one of the things that you have to ingrain in your mind if you want to make money online consistently over time.

2. They are incredibly curious and eager to learn. They never know it all. Rather, these individuals are always studying, asking questions and reading. One thing that I found interesting is that while most of them did well in school, the difference between them and most people who have done well in school is that they apply or take advantage of what they learn. Repeated success is not about memorizing facts, rather, it is about being able to take information and create, build, or apply it in new and important ways. Successful people want to learn everything about everything. So should you!

3. These individuals network. They know lots of people, from all different backgrounds. They are extremely good listeners and seek to understand before being understood. They do not always have to be the center of attention. In fact, while many are quiet, and sometimes even shy, they value people and relationships.

4. They work on themselves and never give up.  Unlike one hit wonders who become arrogant and quickly disappear, the most successful people work on their personality, their leadership skills, management skills, and every other detail of life. When a relationship or business deal goes awry, they assume they can learn from it and they expect to do better next time. Successful people do not tolerate flaws, rather they do what they have to do to fix them!

5. They are extraordinarily creative. They go around questioning why something cannot be done. They see possibilities, combinations, new opportunities and challenges in places that others see complications and limitations. They keep a notebook next to their bed at night for the times at which they are awaken by a novel idea. They ask for advice, try things out, consult with both experts and amateurs, and are always looking for a better, faster, cheaper solution. Successful people make new opportunities. If you can recognize a need and fill this need with a product or service, you will make money online beyond your expectations.

6. Highly successful individuals are self-reliant and take responsibility. They do not worry about blame, and they do not waste time complaining. Rather, they make decisions and move on. Sometimes they are criticized for taking this to extremes. For example, Jimmy Carter carried his own briefcase, which is considered a "no no" for a sitting President. Extremely successful people, such as President Carter, take the initiative and accept the responsibilities of success.

7. They are usually relaxed and keep their perspective. Even in times of stress or turmoil, highly successful people keep their balance, they know the value of timing, humor, and patience. They rarely panic or make decisions on impulse. Unusually successful people breath easily, ask the right questions, and make sound decisions, even in a crisis.

8. Extremely successful people live in the present moment. They know that "Now" is the only time they can control. They have a "gift" for looking people in the eye, listening to what is being said, enjoying a meal or fine wine, music or playing with a child. They never seem rushed, and they get a lot done! They take full advantage of each day. Successful people don’t waste time, they use it!

9. Successful people can observe trends, notice changes, see shifts, and hear the nuances which others tend to overlook. An NHL hockey player with a $130 Easton hockey stick is trivial. However, one of your teenager's teammates with the same stick is interesting. Your own teenager the same $130 Easton hockey stick is an opportunity for Easton to expand its market.

10. Repeatedly successful people respond instantly. When an investment is not working out, they dump it on the market. When they see an opportunity, they make the call. If an important relationship is cooling down, they take time to renew it. When technology advances, or a new competitor threatens market share, they are the first and fastest to respond with the solution.

These traits work together to give successful people a massive advantage. The good news is that none of these traits are innate. Rather, they are acquired, meaning that you can learn them and use them to make money online.
