Stop Wasting Time and Make Money Online
If you are anything like me, you must have times when you wish there were forty-eight hours in a day, rather than the twenty-four which we are forced to ration. There just never seem to be enough hours in the day to get everything done. Unfortunately, since we are human, and not plants, we cannot be productive for all twenty-four of those hours, because we are forced to sleep. Hours take on even greater value for those of us who use them to make money online.
Are you aware that on average, people waste approximately two hours per day? Did also you know that this is mostly due to poor planning? If a person is unorganized, they spend time trying to find things which have been misplaced, they overlook appointments, and they do only one thing at a time, when they could be multitasking.
Time management skills are a major building block to success. Much of the time, it matters not how much time we spend working, but how efficiently we do the work. The key to successful time management is careful planning, and setting priorities.
Plan your day, your week, and your month in advance. Know when things need to be done. A great way to "create more hours in a day” is to multi-task. Do more than one thing at a time. There are many things which do not require concentrated mental effort, and can be done in the background while you work on something else.
I am a huge National Football League fan. However, come Sunday, I cannot justify sitting down and watching the early game, late game, and night game. I have to be doing other things while I do it. Thank goodness for DVR Players. While I have to watch my favorite team live, I watch some of the other games throughout the week while I am on the elliptical. I am on the elliptical for 45 minutes a day, five days per week almost without fail. In fact, I have only missed two days in 2009. So during the football season, I can watch a game during the week without wasting any time doing it.
Furthermore, when you run errands, try to do as many as you can on one trip. If you are self-employed, you can combine personal errands which are on the way to a business errand, and have the mileage written off as a business expense.
I have been fortunate to be able to make money online and work at home. It has been nice since I do not like to waste time commuting. However, if you must commute, use the time to listen to something which you can learn from. For example, when I was in law school, I had to go out of town between exams. I believe that I left right after a Tax II exam, and had an Evidence exam coming up. During the ride, I listened to Evidence study tapes. Yes, tapes. This was in 1997. I ended up doing okay with a B+ in Evidence in my second year of law school.
Likewise, if you are a regular exerciser and belong to a gym, think about working out at home some of the time. For instance, I do both. Weights at the gym, and cardiovascular at home. This way, I can multi-task when I do my cardiovascular exercise, and socialize when I do my weight exercise. Working at home, I do not have much face to face social interaction on a day to day basis other than my wife. It is nice to see the guys at the gym and talk about things other than Lifetime movies and my wife's job.
Setting priorities enables you to get the most important things done. Keep you eye on the big picture. Do not let low priority things bump off the higher priority tasks from your schedule. If you have only so much time, it is essential that you spend your time doing the things which bring you the most benefit. The things which matter the most must never be done at the expense of the things which matter the least.
Time is so precious. This is especially true for those of us who make money online. If you want to be successful in life, you really have to spend more time being productive, and doing the things which move you forward. Spending hours a day watching TV, playing computer games, or surfing the Internet is the exact opposite of the productive usage of time. We all need a little downtime, however, it is essential that you determine how much is essential to achieving optimal performance. If you use your productive time efficiently then you will have more time to relax and do the fun things.
Zero Cost. Zero Obligation.
