Anyone who has the desire to make money online, better become acquainted with marketing. For online business owners, marketing can be more complicated than the Rubik's Cube. We are not really sure how it works. We cannot always pinpoint what works best for us. Sometimes were do not even know where to begin because of past frustration.

 

Most of us can at least recognize marketing when we see it. For instance, we know that a website, the side of a bus, Pay Per Click, networking, trade shows, etc., are all marketing. However, the key is finding which for of marketing works best for your business.

I do not think I would be out of line if I said that we have all tried at least one of the aforementioned marketing strategies for our online businesses. At a bare minimum, a website. Some of us have probably had some degree of success at one point or another. However, what is often needed is a way to make marketing work consistently for your business. How do we go about doing this?

A good place to start, would be to define the term "marketing". Marketing can be defined as, "The use of strategies in order to generate a constant supply of high-quality leads for one's business".

While this definition does not directly measure up with our previously mentioned notions about marketing (ie. a website, the side of a bus, Pay Per Click, networking, trade shows, etc.), it is important to understand why your current marketing strategies are not producing consistent results.

In order to do this, look your marketing messages and materials squarely in the face, and put them to the test. While wearing your impartial hat, look at your core marketing message, and ask yourself why, as an impartial individual, you would care. If your message fails to tell your impartial self, or more importantly, your intended audience, exactly what  is in it for them, then expect them to ignore your marketing efforts.

Keep in mind that marketing messages and materials which  are all about who you, the history of your company, and why you are so qualified to provide these services, are likely to be disregarded by your target audience because you are failing to tell the consumer specifically what solutions you are providing to solve their problems, challenges, and issues.

Challenge all of your current marketing materials, keeping in mind that the intended audience is who is number one, not you or your company's history. Show the customer what is in it for them, and why they should care.

 

However, if your marketing is consistently generating all the high-quality leads you can handle, then never mind. Just ignore this article. However, if you have not been able to figure out how to generate consistent leads for your business, then don't you owe it to yourself to put your impartial hat on, and challenge your current marketing tools?
