In order to build successfully make money online, you'll have to first build a list.  Meaning a list of targeted email subscribers to whom you may promote your products to.  A squeeze page is an indispensable tool in accumulating that list.

A squeeze page (sometimes called an "opt-in" or "landing" page) is a simple website consisting of a single page, with details about the free product that the visitor will receive in return for their name and email address.  It can be very sparse, with a brief description of the product, and simple graphics, or it could be more elaborate, with audio, video and elaborate images.  In any case, it must be compelling enough to "sell" the visitor on the benefits of the product.

The most sure-fire way of enticing a visitor to surrender their email address into the web form on your squeeze page is to offer them a product of real value.  This is sometimes called an "ethical bribe".  Some of the things that are usually offered are ebooks, special reports, training materials, application software, or other relevant information that your target market would be interested in.

The name: "squeeze page" comes from the fact that the visitor can't get to your free offer until he/she gives up their email address.  There are no other options, other than to navigate away from the page, empty-handed.

Also, make sure that there are no "leaks".  A leak is anything that allows visitors to get around entering their email address to get to the download page.  For example; don't put a direct link to the download from your opt-in form.  Anybody could view the source code and find the URL of your download page.  Instead, send them the download link in their first email, or configure a re-direct to the download page when they confirm their subscription.  Either way, that ensures that they have to enter their email address to get your free offer.

Now that you know what a squeeze page is and what it does, the next question is; how and where do you get one?  Your first option is to make one yourself.  If you have any skills with an HTML editor, this could be a valid course of action.  However, it is a time-consuming process.  Time that could be better spent in other endeavors (like promoting your paid products, for example).  And depending on your skill level, it could end up looking unprofessional, or downright ugly!

Your next option could be to pay a web designer to create your squeeze pages for you.  But considering that you'll need to have many different squeeze pages of various designs in order to get decent results, this could end up being a costly solution.  Not to mention, unless you know the designer personally, the finished products that you end up with can be pretty much a crap shoot in terms of quality.  You'll also have to be prepared to wait for your projects to be finished, which could take up to several weeks.

Fortunately, there are plenty of resources for high-quality, professional looking squeeze pages out there.  Most of these sources have very reasonable prices, and offer squeeze pages that take advantage of current marketing strategies, such as the ability to embed video clips and audio tracks.  These types of squeeze pages have been shown to be highly effective in converting curious visitors into subscribers, which are essential to your ability to make money online consistently over time.
